Greetings from Lobo Land! We are just a few days from our Sul Ross State University Distinguished Alumni and Athletics Hall of Honor Celebration. For four decades, this event has honored the very best of our alumni and athletes that have distinguished themselves and represent the true legacy of Sul Ross. Over the years, we have recognized former lobos who became Olympians and scholars; rocket scientists and professional athletes; entrepreneurs and artists. And we have honored friends for their transformational support and philanthropy to Sul Ross State University. This year is a continuation of that grand tradition. Our 2018-2019 honorees have each distinguished themselves through their professional and personal achievements and contributions. We proudly call them members of the Sul Ross family. And we are pleased and honored that an important part of their time, their talents, their gifts and their lives were given in support of our beloved University.
This is a busy season at Sul Ross as we enter the last two months of this academic year. Many events will mark this time and provide opportunities for many to celebrate all the amazing aspects of the “Frontier University of Texas.” The 33rd Annual Trappings of Texas will bring many supporters of our Museum of the Big Bend to Alpine and Sul Ross. We will be launching a completely revamped New Student Orientation program. We will be honoring our students, faculty and staff for their impressive accomplishments in Alpine and in Eagle Pass. And we will celebrate with our most recent graduates at Commencement Ceremonies in Alpine and Del Rio. There are other events too numerous to mention. This time of year brings into clear focus for me how blessed and honored I am to serve you as the President of Sul Ross.
Go Lobos!
