Fall 2018 Official Enrollment

The wait is over!

SRSU’s fall 2018 enrollment data has now been certified with the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board. So, we can take a closer look.  This information supersedes the preliminary information published on the Census Day Fall 2018 Enrollment Profile on September 19, 2018.

Fall 2018 SRSU Student Profile

Total Headcount: 1,885

Students in the Alpine campus are mostly undergraduate  (71%), a slight majority female (52%), and about half are of Hispanic origin (51%). Over a quarter of the student population are new students (27%). The majority of undergraduates are enrolled full-time (80%), while the majority of graduate and post-baccalaureate students are enrolled part-time, 82% and 96% respectively.

Overall, compared to Fall 2017 enrollment in the Alpine campus has decreased 5.6% from 1,996 to 1,885 students. Undergraduate student headcount decreased 6%, while graduate student headcount decreased 5%. Total semester credit hours also decreased; 5% for undergraduate and 7% for graduate students.

Fall 2018 SRSU-RGC Student Profile

Total Headcount: 890

Students in the Rio Grande College instructional sites (Del Rio, Eagle Pass and Uvalde) are also mostly undergraduate (84%), and are predominately female (74%). The majority of them are Hispanic (89%) and continuing students (80%). RGC doesn’t enroll new undergraduate students, but it does enroll new graduate students, and they are about 2% of the RGC student population. Unlike SRSU, the majority of students across all degree levels are part-time students – 68% (UG), 82% (PB) and 82% (GR).

Overall, compared to Fall 2017 enrollment in the RGC sites has decreased 9% from 974 to 890 students. Undergraduate student headcount decreased 6% while graduate student headcount decreased 17%. Total semester credit hours also decreased; 5% for undergraduate and 17% for graduate students.
