Museum of the Big Bend’s Fall Outlook

The Museum of the Big Bend has an exciting slate of exhibits, events and educational programs planned for fall 2018! Opening on Friday, September 21st, starting at 6 pm California artist Erin Hanson premiers her bold and vivacious oil paintings of the Big Bend in the exhibit and sale Impressions of Big Bend Country. The following morning at 10 am join Erin for an exclusive artist’s tour of her show. All of Erin’s paintings are for sale and benefit the Museum. The exhibit remains of display through December 16, 2018. Free and open to the public

Saturday, September 22nd, the Museum will honor Mr. John B. Poindexter for his longtime commitment to the Museum and the Big Bend region at the 5th Annual Heritage Dinner. Catered by the Gage Hotel at the Ritchey Brothers Building in Marathon. During the cocktail hour, the Museum Annex Project will be unveiled with representatives from the award winning architectural firm PageSoutherlandPage in attendance. A truly special evening for all who love and appreciate the Big Bend! Tickets are available for $150 per person. Limited seating.

For our youngest learners, ages 0-5 years, Alexis Vogel will be leading Wee Explore and Little Sprout Song Swap in the Museum’s Womack Education room starting in September. For older artists, the Museum has partnered with Old Spanish Trail Gallery for a one-day clay workshop in October.

The Museum is open Tuesday-Saturday 9am-5pm, Sunday 1-5 pm. Closed Monday and major holidays. Admission and parking is free. Donations are gratefully accepted.
